Description of Program

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Endourology/Laparoscopic Urology Fellowship Program is currently a one year program. We will begin conversion to a two year program this year and will accepting applications for both a one AND two year positions. The one year program is primarily clinical, but will also involve participation in clinical and animal research. During the course of the year, the fellow will function at the level of an attending in clinical practice. The entire realm of endourology will be covered from endourologic management of complex stone and soft tissue disease to laparoscopy of all urological solid organs and reconstructive techniques. Two DaVinci robots are clinically available. The two year program will involve a year of research opportunities with some clinical responsibilities, followed by a year of clinical duties. Additional faculty available during the fellowship will be Dr. Steve Jackman and Dr Michael Ost, as well as Dr. Stephen Docimo, Division of Pediatric Urology and Dr. Ronald Hrebinko, Division of Urologic Oncology.

Bench space and animal lab facilities

The Department of Urology has 12,500 sq. ft. of laboratory space. A large animal facility is also available with a full complement of equipment and staff.
