Individual should have advance training (fellowship in endourology) with experience in treating the entire spectrum of endouro-oncological disease; this includes stone disease, urinary obstructions and various forms of kidney and prostate cancer. Robotic experience is desired.

There is an opening for a one or two year Fellowship beginning in July 2009. This fellowship includes comprehensive training in all aspects of adult and pediatric, endourology, laparoscopic, lithotripsy and robotics. The program also entails laparoscopic donor nephrectomy. Animate and inanimate research laboratories and skill lab which are integral part of the program are located on the Campus.

US and Canadian ACGME approved urologic training is required.

Subspecialty : Minimally Invasive Urology
Goals and Objectives
Training in Endourology, advanced urologic laparoscopy and robotic surgery. This is an endourology society recognized fellowship. The requirements for certification from the endourology society must be met during the fellow's tenure. This includes completion of the endourology society case index, and publication requirements. The responsibilities of the fellow include perioperative, and intraoperative care of patients undergoing advanced endourological, and laparoscopic urological procedures. This includes operating on the adrenals, kidneys, bladder and prostate. The fellow is also involved in performing single port access laparoscopy, daVinci robotic urologic procedures (robotic prostatectomies, pyeloplasties, cystectomies, etc) Our program has a very large volume of urologic oncological procedures. Graded surgical responsibility will be given to the fellow for operative cases, and oupatient clinical care. Research, data Collection/analysis, and presentations at regional national, and international meetings are an integral part of the fellowship. Resources and personnel are available to assist the fellow in achieving the research objectives. The fellow has protected time to pursue clinical and basic science research opportunities. Additional responsibilities include participation in teaching residents and medical students in the evaluation and treatment of patients in all aspects of urology, with special emphasis on endourology, laparoscopy, and robotics. The fellow is involved as an organizer, participant, and instructor in ongoing dry and wet laboratory sessions designed for the residents and medical students.

Facilities
The University of Rochester Medical Center includes two hospitals where the fellow works Strong Memorial (665 beds), and Highland (238 beds) are both equipped with state of the art operating rooms, including several daVinci S units to facilitate advanced laparoscopic and robotic urological procedures. The fellow has access to training at the Institute of Urology in London, England, (European Center of Excellence for minimally invasive urology)where 6-month rotations are arranged. The University of Rochester Medical Center has an active animal research facility with several full time veterinarians and technicians available to allow minimally invasive live animal surgeries. The fellow has an office equipped with phone, computer, and broadband access available for use. The fellow is hired as a fellow/junior instructor, which provides the same academic resources / support services available to the regular faculty.

Prerequisites
Completion of an approved ACGME urologic residency, or foreign urologic training program equivalent. Foreign graduates must meet all visa requirements.

Valid New York State license.
July 2009 start time.

The Cleveland Clinic offers a fully funded research fellowship in Laparoscopy, Robotics, and Endourology for a qualified international or national candidate. The start date for the position is flexible but preferably the candidate would begin during the summer of 2009 and be appointed for 1-2 years. The candidate would participate in basic and clinical research concerning topics of laparoscopic and robotic oncology, benign disease, stone disease, and upper tract TCC. In addition, the candidate would be encouraged to observe surgery at our center, one of the highest volume centers for Urology. The Smith Institute for Urology at the NorthShoreLong Island Jewish Health System: Seeking a BE/BC Post Doctoral Clinical Fellow for two year fellowship position in Endourology/Minimally Invasive Urology.  Candidate must have New York State Medical License in order to run clinic and perform surgery independently.

Under the direction of fellowship director Louis R. Kavoussi, MD, and co-directors Dr. Arthur Smith, Dr. Lee Richstone, and Dr. Manish Vira, the fellowship will involve intensive clinical and research components over a two year period.  Emphasis is placed on all aspects of endourology, including percutaneous surgery, ureteroscopy, ESWL, laparoscopy and robotic surgery, for both benign and malignant disease.

The Department of Urology at the University of California, Irvine offers a two-year endourology appointment commencing July 1, 2009.  Applicants must be American Board of Urology eligible.  The appointment will include a junior faculty position as a Clinical Instructor in the UCI School of Medicine with clinical, research and teaching responsibilities.  Salary is commensurate with experience.   During the first year of the program, incumbents serve as the Endourology Research Fellow participating primarily in laboratory research projects with minimal clinical duties; the second year the incumbent serves as the Endourology Clinical Fellow assisting in the operating room in robotic, laparoscopic, percutaneous, and ureteroscopic procedures while pursuing clinical research projects.  The program is specifically geared to individuals interested in pursuing an academic career in endourology with extensive training provided in percutaneous, ureteroscopic and laparoscopic research and clinical experience. Many of the most successful academicians in endourology are graduates of this fellowship.  A California medical license is required prior to appointment.
